South East Trimmings, well worth the drive there, they know their stuff and very reasonable prices, wish I went there before I did!

Richard, I had my mk2 seats recovered in the “ambla ” vinyl, not leather, a couple of years ago.

IIRC the foams, diaphragms, covers etc. cost approx. £650 from a key Stag supplier in Chester and then I had a local trimmer, strip and rebuild the two front seats for another £200 - so I would estimate £850 - £1000. Unsure what leather would add to that

                Richards,

Trouble is Tomcat seats, Jag seats and others are “fittable” and easily available for a quarter of that, so unless someone wants originality ( but if they’re leather they’re not original?) I think you’ll struggle at that sort of price IMO. Good luck though.

Stag seats cost a lot to rebuild ,that's the main reason people replace them with other seats, I think you're be lucky to get £400 for the pair,if they were leather you could get a bit more

                        Derek.
None that I can think of. The other way round possibly yes.

Thought i would ask on this thread instead of starting a new one, Has anyone made their own leather stag seat covers and if so it there templates for the panels? etc

                          A long shot i know!

                            martin

Ive started but not finished,so far rear cubby panels finished B-post finished, the back panels of the seat and piping done head rest finished, the bit im having trouble with is the center pleats keeping them straight
I cut up an old seat for the patterns
if i was to do it again,id do the piping in vinyl, vinyl isnt as thick makes it easier to sow the lot together

When I got my current Stag back in '06 I recovered the seats in leather, much the same way as Dave, using the old knackered seat panels as a guide. The leather I used was fairly heavy and I couldn't have laid in piping on that material.
I used double sided tape to secure panels to each other before beginning stitching. It seemed to help stop the material sliding against themselves.
The only advice I would give would be to use a sewing machine with reasonable grunt. The sewing machine I used was a low cost item, and whilst it carried out the work it tended to struggle with the density of the material.
The seats looked reasonable to good, but, as all Stag seats, lacked lateral support so I changed them out for Hyundai Coupe leather seats.

Have to say I like my current seats but I was smugly satisfied with my DIY attempts.

Good luck and enjoy, I found it therapeutic.
