Any ideas, fitted new alternator, charging, light went out all ok, stopped on the run, no charging light, came on when ingition switched on, ran back to hotel, voltmeter reading 14volts , switched off restarted, no ING light and volt meter reading 10, put a meter across battery while running reading 12.5volts any ideas?????. Thanks

Its not chargingAre all connections good including under washer bottle. Have you got normal ignition warning lamp bulb, not LED?

After 'upgrading' my instrument lights to LED which included the warning lamp cluster I discovered that my alternator stopped charging. It seems that the IGN light circuit forms part of the alternator exciter circuit and relies on there being an incandescent bulb forming this circuit, if replaced with an LED the circuit stops working, have you by any chance upgraded your bulbs to LED?

if you get your cluster bulbs from classic car lighting as I did, you get pos and neg earth leds where they go and a suitable resistor to connect across the ignition warning lamp, just a happy customer

Been having trouble with my alternator charging circuit for some time, resulting in having 2 alternators in a short period of time with flickering ignition light and voltmeter intermittently not showing a charge, most noticeable when the engine was warm. Changing the last one, I noticed that the exciter wire appeared to be not making continual contact with the connector on the alternator due to the plastic cover having deteriorated. A new set of wires has cured the problem
