    alternator cable

Hi all, can anyone tell me who stocks Brown cable with a yellow marker, it's for the ignition light the small cable that fit on to the alternator, as after my alternator failed at the national I want to make a loom so I can move the it to the other side, looked on 12volt plant

Thanks for your help in advance

    Try these: https://www.autoelectricsupplies.co....66/category/11

Choose your cable size, then select colour - Brown/Yellow

What’s the rating of the alternator? 45amp?

Its depends on the alternator output,. for cable size. larger current capacity bigger cable...... has the output connection single or dual. if dual can cut cable capacity down so both are sharing.

It,s the small wire that goes to the lamp

As it is the small exciter wire, then I would have thought that 2mm2 would suffice, but I’m not an auto electrician. Best check.

As this wire is in series with a 2.2W indicator bulb, then the current can't exceed 0.2A, current-carrying isn't really an issue. Think the smallest generally available is 0.5mm2. If it were me, I'd go for something around 0.75mm2 purely for physical robustness. I use https://www.autosparks.co.uk/electri...ts/cables.html, though doubt there's much to choose between suppliers.
