I had AA membership for 13 years and during that period the Stag had to be lifted from Invergordon to Bridge of Weir, a 1 way distance of 210 miles. During the trip the breakdown driver, who was from a subcontracted private garage, calculated that the round trip invoice to the AA would be about about £900.00.

Rubbish. When I recently let the trolley jack down a bit fast my Stag pretty much fell onto an axle stand that was positioned under the rear sill jacking point. Result - not a mark on the car. If the jacking points on my Stag ( or any other car with a unitary construction body) would not suffice to merely jack the car for a wheel change then I would be out with the angle grinder and welder to restore the structural integrity.

That said I am not entirely confident that the jack point reinforcement sections were put back into my sills when they were replaced by a previous owner 30 years ago.

I shant bother to try finding out whether the sills fold up when I try to jack on them

I have used the jacking points on my Stag with the Stag supplied jack. No problem. The only issue was I managed to removed a little paint which I quickly rust treated just in case, primed and repainted with a touch up brush using the beautiful Java Green matching paint.
