    mechanical water pump modification to fit in place of alternator

    Has anybody got any info on doing a mechanical pump modification to fit in place of the alternator and doing away with the standard set up?

    Stagdad of this forum has developed an excellent kit doing just this. Try a PM to him.

        No problem, I think I’m within the rules recommending a well designed, manufactured and priced product, which overcomes a potentially major disaster area.

        Fit and forget, this kit has no side effects and no more worrying about jackshafts.

                  I dont post about it on here due to the trader rules which is fair but would just like to thank everyone for the great feedback.

                    Here is a specific installation on my Stag, seems effective as she never overheated, even during a trip in Morocco 2 years ago, including an hour of trafic jam in Casablanca... i don’t know this pump model and origin, perhaps an advisor could tell, it has certainly a higher debit than original one.                       I've now decided to go down the electric route, waiting for the new pump to arrive;

                        Is there a problem with the pump with the (Lexus i think) engine you have transplanted then?

                          I've fitted the biggest radiator I could fit but it has a big intercooler covering a lot of it. This greatly reduces the cooling plus adds another 20 degrees or so to the ambient air temp from cooling the air from the turbo.

                          I'm in the process of putting another radiator behind the backseat to keep the temp down. So I need an extra pump to flow the coolant around the rads and engine. The Lexus pumps OK but it always gets hot. The routing of the pipes isnt the best as space is so tight and there's a shed load of heat in the engine bay.

                          I should have worked out how much it takes to cool each bhp at the start and made room for the right sized rad.
