    Bulkhead Insulation Installation.

Can anyone with experience of fitting replacement internal Bulkhead Insulation pads advise how much has to be removed in order to fit the new pads. I got a set free with new Carpets and have pulled the dash out. Seems like a job worth doing, but how much else needs to come out. Thanks. John

I replaced mine earlier this year while I was fitting a new loom (not recommended) Yes take the dash out, if you don't want to disconnect the heater you could cut the pad to get it round the pipe work, I removed the pedals but I was doing the engine bay pad as well so needed the servo gone but you should be able to negotiate round them in situ.Remove the fuse box and relay board and pull them out the way with wiring still attached. Because its stuck in with impact adhesive the fewer things in the way the better.

      Hi Bruce
Your advice is really appreciated as this little job started because I had a crack in the dash top vinyl, so I decided to get it recovered. Then the insulation pads at first just looked grubby, before I noticed the drivers side was soaked in oil... Only one place that could have come from, as situation saved by an upgrade into silicon brake fluid a while back. So, I have had the master cylinder and brake servo out and replaced already (but now it is back in). My loom was rebuilt by the last owner, but the issues seem to be more about making good earth connections than wiring! Toying now with taking the heater out, but that has other connotations. I have got hold of two aircon heat-exchanger assemblies, which really needs to be a future job, after I have overhauled both into a servicable one first! Ill try with the pedals and the heater in place and let you know how I get on. The insulation pads I have are in two separate units, so should be good. This is a Kiwi Stag now, but will find its way back home in due course once we move back home. Do you use spray-on contact adhesive or just the paint brush type? Cheers, John

        Hi John
I used the spray on and if you've got a helper when you are trying to locate it, its a lot easier.
        Good luck
