I must have fitted the hazard flasher unit as the hazard lights work but not the indicators. On my coloured wiring diagram there is a direct connection to the indicators. However I will find the second flasher unit replace it and take it from there. Thank you barkerwilliams for your advice. georgestag1.

Ignition control fuse blowing problem

I wired in the hazard flashers myself using the Lucas SFP300 unit, so that they operate without the Ignition on e.g.
Operate hazard switch, hazard lights flash.
Turn hazard switch off.
Operate indicators, nothing.
Turn on ignition, operate indicators, indicators flash.
Just checking that you are not chasing a red-herring there!!

Hi all the members who offered help with my ignition control fuse blowing problem. The problem has disappeared and everything is working fine. When I replaced the flasher unit a 2 quid relay and a bunch of wires fell into view. I disconnected and bench tested the relay, it was OK, reconnected the relay and later noted the fuse blowing problem had disappeared. The short source must be in the bunch of wires. The source must be found. I will tidy up the bunch of wires and hopefully find the short source. I am not inclined at present to find out what the relay controls. Thanks to KOY23 for the bulb tip, it worked well. A tip for david f. The headlamp bulb I used had 2 spade connections. All I needed was 2 lengths of wire, 2 X 5 amp crocodile clips and 2 crimp on spade connectors. In my case a spare headlamp holder wasn't required.
My grateful thanks to all the fellow members who took the time and trouble to offer me advice. georgestag1
