    Header rail broken

Hi everybody, help needed please. My soft top header rail has snapped at the end. What is best thing to do now please.
I have looked at taking it off and repairing it, the header rail that is, but should I just try and find a replacement header rail or just leave it as is? It looks like quite a lot of work to get it off and I do not want to damage the material, it is a nice hood.
It does seem to be a weak point to be honest.
I have the hood complete off the car in the garden ready for my next move if only I knew what that was.

Try using the search box. (should be the first port of call for everybody before posting) As I remember this has been posted upon in the last 4-5 years, and it involved using a large rivet to repair it.

we were talking about this at the last club meeting, do not weld, it needs to flex, yes a rivet is the way

I repaired mine a couple of months ago. It had been welded solid which left a gap above the driver door and it was difficult to fold away
I carefully pulled the hood material away about 6” either side of the joint, made up a hinge section to weld to the header rail then I used a Clevis pin and one of those gripping star washers
stuck back the hood and the job is done
No more gaps and it folds away easily

Hi at the stag national day Chris was giving some tips and advice on frames , I asked about lubricating points and he said the 1 most miss out is the front header on each corner as he says the frame flex’s at that point when going up and down,
            regards david

Thank you to you all for your help with this matter. I have decided to have a go at it myself. I really like the idea of the clevis pin and the gripping star washer instead of the rivet. I shall ask a friend to weld the end back onto the rail for me as I do not have facilities myself.
I do not like not having the Stag off the road without a hood.
