    S/S Brake Hoses

Just fitted the S/S brake hoses and new pipes and have a query - i have fitted the rear off side brake hose to the bracket on the underside, fitted the pipe union to that but it is shorter that the other unions on the hoses, with the copper washer between the union and the bracket it seems to bottom out before adequate compression is achieved between the hose and the pipe? (See Sketch)

If any one can understand my explanation :?has anyone experienced this and got any advice.

I think you have fitted the wrong flexy hose, to the wrong side. If my memory serves me correctly the only fitting with a copper sealing washer on the rear brakesis on the N/S hose from the 3 way connector. The 3 way connector has 2 flared tapping's/fittings and 1 seal face tapping.

Just fitted new standard hoses - but the end fittings should be the same and as I recall the near side rear hose is the 'odd one out', because it connects to the 3way union with a washer, where as the other 3 corners have the hose end connector going through a bracket and held with a nut (no washer needed as it isn't a seal), and then the end-fitting nut on the pipe is screwed onto the hoseend connector (again no washer as the seal is made by the flare of the pipe). The copper washer on mine on the off side was between the hose and the wheel cylinder EDIT - sorry, washers werebetween hoses and front wheel calipers, not rear cylinderEDIT END. Of course it might have been done wrong sometime in the past but my new bits seemed to fit ok.

I've not been to look, to double check, but that's what I remember!

I remember getting a bit confused when I did mine, I think I even emailed the supplier asking where the missing copper washers were!

Anyway this pic illustrates the points already made.

Good job this thread came up waiting to do my hoses. So the washer in question is item number 233220A x1 which fits to the union on the N/S.
