Can someone help me with the white black wire which forms part of the wiring in the drivers side B post and is part of the wiring that heads to the interior light. I have a black wire (from the light) and a purple (from the loom located on the drivers side with branch into B post) which I believe is he live feed, purple white and purple orange. It would appear that the previous owner tried to earth the black wire. When i inspected the wiring the purple wire was not connected, white black is connected to something at top of B post and black from the light was earthed (I think). Photo attached. I’ve made a temporary connection between the black and purple as I can’t get to the connector in the B post.
The upshot is that the interior light works but stays on permanently. I’ve followed all the threads on this subject and checked wiring to switch. Car is a Mk2, with single wire door switches and black wires connecting to terminal 1 and 2 of the light switch. LH puddle lamp was working but is not now. LH door switch is working ok. Both footwell lamp are not fully light. I’ve disconnected the back wires from terminal 1 and 2 as a check (from a previous post).
I’ve observed that the LH footwell light has a purple white wire and a single black wire connected and the RH footwell light has a purple orange and 2 black wires connected.
Any help would be appreciated.
Cheers
