    Semi-seized heater blower motor

I'm new to Stag ownership and to the forum. My heater blower motor just struggles into life, hardly turning. I guess at the least the bearings need lubrication.
Is it possible to access the blower motor without totally dismantling the dash as required for total heater assembly removal? Or at least enough to be able to squirt some WD40 at it?

not sure if the stag has one but older 2 speed heaters have a wire wound resistor to give the 2 speeds could be that is the problem, try putting direct power to it

Sounds like the one on my Triumph estate. I have been thinking about doing it for about 10 years now but can't be bothered.

I tend to start the motor on the high speed then switch it to slow once the motor has got up to speed and stopped grumbling

Tried direct 12V feed, still struggling to turn. Can you get at the motor without major dismantling?

Unfortunately the only way to get at the motor is by dismantling the heater box as it is buried inside it.

Your problem may be a partially seized fan, but it could be that the motor is well past its best. Taking the assembly out will take a few hours. It's not difficult, but does take time. You can refurbish the seals on the various heater flaps, repaint it etc. And probably find all sorts of other things you don't normally see deserving of a little attention.

Thanks for the advice Brian I think this is a job for the depths of wi!
In the meantime, I've found an interim solution. I removed the chrome grille from the air intake and located the twin entrances to the fan compartment. I fixed a length of VERY narrow bore poly tubing to a length of coat hanger bent at the end and inserted the bent end into the fan chamber, aimed at the motor. I then fixed a can of WD40 to the other end of the tubing and gave a good squirt to each end of the motor.
This has resulted in the fan coming back to life at full speed. How long it will last I don't know, but it'll do for now!
