Replacing the inside door handles.

I finally traced a rattle in the drivers door to wear on the pivot pin through the door opening handle and the door locking handle.

I got a new handle fitting from Paddocks for the very reasonable sum of £15 plus VAT. I've read the ROM about removing the handle and the remote control lever together and separating them subsequently..

Before I start to try taking things apart does anyone have any advice on separating the various items?

Are you sure its not rods that run behind the door frame touching the frame, you didnt say if its mk1 or mk2 doors

Sorry Dave, it's a late Mk 1.
No it's not the rod, that's what I first thought. It was the two handles touching so I squeezed together the brackets that hold the pin through the handles and it stopped the rattle. The new handles are much stiffer and it's a long term cure.

Mk2 locks have two rods where Mk1 have a single rod but its wider,on the inner handle undo the bolts that hold the handle to the door frame, to make it easier on your self disconnect the rod from the door lock end ,there held in place by a clip and the rod goes through the hole in the middle,you lever the clip up then disconnect the rod,you can them pull the inner door release handle out of the door with the rod this attached,once its out of the door,you can release the clip holding the rod to the inner handle
