    Heres an interesting article, that mentions that 12 employees involved in the Stag development left Triumph after the BL takeover to go and work for BMW..... Does anyone know anymore? Who were they and what were their roles in BMW etc??

    Hmm...dont think 5 series was styled by michelotte(italian) though....was it bertone?; although tr6 was by karmann(german)......

    The ex triumph employees wouldnt have influenced the style of the bavarians cars is what i mean.

      That woudl explain why the BMW straight six engines were almost identical to Triumph! They had the same problem with centre lobs on cam not getting any oil (lack of services meant they lasted until 120k miles generally), the Triumph guys cure this with extra oil feed into rocker cover.:shock:

        'Almost identical' straight six cylinder and similar faults does not equal identical!

          Yes by creating another problem - robbing the crankshaft of oil flow as it all heads north for the head.

            yes! Not ideal, I suppose it would have it draw backs.

            Intersting the BMW straight six had similar history to Triumph, 2L , 2.3 / 2.5 boring out to 2.8, the last straw with the two mid pots causing head gasket problems, alot of blocks crack in the cracked in later life between 3 & 4 pots....still made one Austrian widow very happy! As for the Triumph 6 , it ended up in the Rover SD1ironic after all thehassle with the Stag V8 /Rover V8 debate. and as we knowI'm afraidnot a good engine when bored out to 2.6 L.
