Hi all, can anyone help with advice on how to change the door window rubber. The rubber on my drivers side door is cracked and split which lets in water to the bottom of the door. I have purchased new rubbers for both doors but I’m a bit concerned how to get the chrome trim off without damaging the paint work so I can slide the rubbers in. Any advice would be most welcome. Thanks

The chrome strip is held in place with spring clips.

These can be r3moved by pushing them down with a screwdriver, or similar, then fished out of the bottom of the door. Refitting is a pain. You need to fashion a tool that will hold the clip whilst you offer it up and pull it into position from the top. Something like this

The new rubber will probably come with a coating which grabs the glass and, until this is cleaned off, may make raising/lowering the glass slow. Frequent cleaning of the glass will help until it settles. The rubber won’t completely stop water entering the door, so it is essential that the door drain holes are clear and the inside of the door, particularly where the skin clamps at the bottom, are regularly treated with anti-rust wax.Dave
