Whats more difficults than stripping down the overdrive unit... blindfolded?

Answer... That supid Oil pressure switch... How on earth are you meant to get at it... is there a special tool? I can't seem to reach it from below or get a spanner or it or rotate it.

    My story begins as follows:
    • First the previous owner removed the switch and cut the wire short then hid it
    • Next they fitted an oil pressure guage
    • I wanted to re-fit the switch in addition to the guage - no bad thing...
    • First I restored the cable - very difficult but done
    • No light on the cluster traced to blown brake bias bulb... changed oil light now works on cluster
    • Now to fit the T-piece with switch and guage connector - OMG riddiculously hard
OK, I could just about get the nut off the oil pressure spiggot, but absolutely no chance of getting the spiggot out to replace it with the T-piece.

So, I am thinking why would I want to put the T piece in the engine? Surely it makes sense to use the exisiting pipe the goes from the engine and spiggot to bring it up higher and out the way, then connect the pipe to the Tpiece there.

    So my question is:
    • Is this possible or will it not work?
    • The pipe for the guage is very narrow will that affect the switch operation?
I searched for other posts but did not find any.... although I am sure that my newness to the forum. I am sure I am not the first to try it, any tips or thoughts would be appreciated.

The spiggot for the oil pressure guage seems to be different to the one supplied with the T-Piece by Paddocks... its has an olive.. but I think this works to my advantage as its easier to make it seal.

    Your help is appreciated

If you already have a pipe coming up from the oil transfer housing, then yes, it would be easier to tee into this pipe in a more accessible place to fit the switch. You might have to support the weight of the switch so as to avoid straining the pipe connection into the engine. Pipe sizes and volumes are irrelevant; oil is effectively in-compressible at these pressures, so it only requires the tiniest bit of movement to operate the switch.
Just make sure you have all the right connectors before you cut the existing pipe. Obviously, you will require a tee with 2 pipe connections and one NPT female (for the switch). Normal kits have a tee with one NPT male, one NPT female, and one pipe connection.

OK, so I have ordered the necessary fluid bits... but have realised I have one tricky bit to sort. I need to ground the entire fitting ( Now an entire female T piece. I will have to use something like a plumbing grounding strap or something as there is no where to drill a hole. Its a lot of work to get the cluster to fully work, but hey ho.

Aha... I think you didn't read the earlier bit of the post.... trying to get down to where things screw into the block is really difficult due to lack of space. I have moved the switch up and away from the block. It now sits higher up by the brake servo, utilising the existing tubing coming from the block. I fitted it this morning... it works a treat!

Yes... good fix... I bought all the bits... but then had second thoughts about getting it to seal down there.. Moving it up higher meant not disturbing what was down there... and gives easier access for the future. Maybe one day when the engine is out... (hopefully never) I will move it back down.
