Thick cam cover gasket question

Hi, I bought a couple of thick cam cover gaskets from LD Parts, I fitted them this morning but I'm having a problem fitting one of the fixing screws. Its one of those with the washer and rubber ring fitted. It just won't reach the thread unless I remove the washer. I've run the engine upto temperatue and hand tightened the rest of the fixings but I am still unbale to fit the washer to said fitting. I know that its a thicker gasket, but has anyone else had the same problem ?

AFAIK there isn’t a choice of thickness with cam cover gaskets. They are either the OE type cork ones (which Peter sells) or silicon rubber ones which are the same thickness. Are you sure the stud that your are trying to attach the screw to isn’t too short? Or that the cover isn’t bent? Or that the gasket is fitted correctly?

I bought a set of cork gaskets from "A well respected supplier" earlier this year, and had the same problem. Investigation showed that the manufacturer had used the wrong thickness cork sheet to make them.
Mine were soon replaced with ones that fitted. Perhaps the ones you have bought came from the same manufacturer?

Hi Guy's, sorry I misread Peter's details and thought that they were thicker due to the description saying 'thick cork' and took that as thicker than standard, my mistake. It could be that the cover on the RH bank might be bent as the LH cover went on with now problems. The gaskets have been fitted correctly using gasket sealant only on the cover to gasket and left overnight to dry and double checked this morning and found to be ok.
