[QUOTE=new to this;n789173]A while ago Russ posted a video of him repairing a Diff with wear on the planet wheels/gears, any one know where i can find it
This is a video I made when checking the diff - not sure if it helps, but my clonky diff disappeared after re-shimming. Glad if I can help anyone with a Stag.

question for those in the know
is it possible to remove the cross member and diff rear case with the diff in the car? or is it an everything out job?
thanks Phil
It's an everything out job - but the hardest part is removing the exhaust from behind the diff. Once that's out, there's not a lot of trouble dropping the rear diff mount.
That works ok, shows exactly where the problem lies.
I must have re shimmed half a dozen diffs now, some of them twice, they seem to need it every 50,000 miles or so.
Neil
Hi Neil,
On my second whinney diff, could you please tell us best place to get the shims from

Regards Mark.
P.S been meaning to ask you on your 250 bhp Stag engine ,did you lighten the flywheel?
thank you

The bolts at the top of the diff case would be hard to get at with the cross member in place
