OK gearbox back in, almost finished but I have a single yellow wire from the round switch (?) on the top of the remote.... Now I made notes when box removed but missed this bit, where or what do I attach it to, has a female spade connector.
Thanks
Ian
So the Yellow (yellow/purple?) wire goes from the gearbox connector in engine bay and it should go to the 3/4 inhibitor switch then from the other switch contact it feeds to the solenoid.
But I thought stag boxes had the inhibit on the side of the remote? maybe its real early one or a TR6 remote? either way its the same wiring.
The round switch on top of the remote is the inhibitor for the OD. It will need two wires connected.
Cheers Ian A
Thanks, thats odd, I cant find another wire to connect to, so where should the yellow wire go? It cant go to the solenoid as thats already wired up.................from the wires on the small gearbox loom. I have the side mounted inhibitor that is nicely connected to the loom and the O/D solenoid (that has two terminals and two wires attached).
Confused of Warwickshire!
Car now also flatly refuses to generate a spark, that needs looking at as all was fine before, and the plastic oil pressure gauge pipe has also split. Getting there!

The OD wires from the 3/4 inhibit switch.. usually yellow or yellow/purple, has 2 connections:-
One goes to the solenoid. The other end of the solenoid goes to ground.
The other wire from the inhibit switch goes to a pin on the multi pin connector from the main loom to the gearbox loom.
If you dont have both wires of the switch wired up then be very careful! it could engage the OD in reverse -- a bad situation.
There could be up to 3 switches on the gearbox cover. As I have never seen a real Stag one (mine was made up from a TR6) I'm not 100% sure where they are but one is the inhibit, another the reverse switch and there may be a third on late cars (Or Federal?) for the seatbelt warning.
Yellow wires are usually the Overdrive. That switch should be on top near the gear lever, the reverse is usually on the left side in the same area. Im not sure where the seatbelt switch would be but I think its opposite the reverse switch, i.e. on the right side.
Terry
here is a pic from the Buckeye site on the TR6, I assume its the same.
OK so today I changed the split oil pressure gauge pipe, refitted the O/S exhaust as I wasnt happy with its join to manifoled so ready to start.....no spark as mentioned before, after a bit of testing/head scratching my neighbour who runs Auto Electrical Supplies came over to the garage and had a look, methodically he worked out how the electronic ignition worked on mine and after swapping one of the coil wires over and removing another (redundant cable from pre Electronic ignition set up), hey presto she fired up.
Still not sorted that yellow wire from gearbox, so i'll be extra careful on shake down drive tomorrow re overdrive selection................I'm thinking it might just need to be connected to an earth terminal, but as it has a standard 5mm spade connector I'm not sure, looked at my 'taking things apart photos' and still cant see where it went!
So if anyone has any ideas, let me know!!
Now to get gront wings/valance replaced before 50th Anniversary shenanigans!
Thanks
Ian
Thanks chaps
So by a process of deduction its the yellow wire going from the right of the overdrive switch in the diagram to the figure of 8 shape (what is that)? , so from switch to where? sorry not too knowledgeable on electrical diagrams. Ian
Just to be sure, look at post #8. It’s definitely the one on top.. yes??
if so one contact goes to the multiple pin connector, the other goes to the solenoid..
You must have some other wire going to the wrong place
BTW the figure 8 thing is the fuse in the footwell the power comes from that fuse, via the OD switch on the gear knob then multi connector (the circle with an Xinside) to the 3/4 OD isolator switch. Then it goes to the solenoid. The other end of the solenoid is grounded. If the switch is on AND the gear lever is in 3/4 gear the power is applied to the solenoid and it energises.
Thanks
Everything works OK Inc reversing lights and overdrive. Now car is off mates ramp I can't see the wire so I'll put it on axle stands this week and have another look. So presume I look for a male connector on one of the connecting blocks, nothing else was disconnected.
Leave it with me, thinking I just need to be extra careful not to leave od in when putting car into reverse!
