Fuel tank POR15 treating

High all knowing
having had a bad smell of petrol in the boot since rebuild I have come to the conclusion the tank is leaking somewhere
I took the tank out to check it while the rebuild took place and found no signs of rust etc
so is it worth treating with a tank liner paint such as POR15
ethanol proof it OR is there any other reason for smelly boot ???

type into search petrol smell in boot lots of info there with regards to it not being the tank.
With regards to the smelly boot, change your socks more regular.

Check that the short length of hose blanking off the pipe on the top of the tank hasn't perished. It is a common source of leaks/smells and will leak with a full tank. However, it may be that there is a weep of fuel from one of the banjo unions on the fuel pump. It only takes the smallest leak to make a real stink.

Some SU pumps have a deeper lip around the banjo. I had to fit double fibre washers to get a seal.
