    Voltmeter

Hi everyone, would welcome some advice. Have a mark 1 and the voltmeter is only showing around 11 when idling and then literally only about 11.1 when it’s revved. There doesn’t appear to be anything wrong with the alternator as the battery remains fully charged. I’ve tested turning on the lights and revving the engine and no real change in headlight output. I’ve also connected an amp meter and it records around 14 when engine revved So, would this be as simple as a faulty voltmeter?

Presume when you say you've "connected an amp meter", you're perhaps meaning that you've connected an external voltmeter to the battery? If so, this is confirming the dash voltmeter is indicating incorrectly.

In your position, I'd be looking for a good S/H unit - try Robsport or Tony White (think he's in the Trader section). Good idea to disconnect the battery before removing the dash panel.
