    I do not think the new one supplied by rimmers was faulty. The chances of the one I had (4 pin) and the one supplied by Rimmers (also 4 pin) having the exact same fault and behaving exactly the same as each other is unlikely. You may wonder why I did not change the alternator to the newer more powerful one? Well I did not see the point. Since putting LED's on the car it hardly uses any power at all... just the ignition current really. I hardly drive it at night.. and then it has LED headlamps (60% less power than standard) so I thought just stick with the original.

      Ahh.. But..

      One of the advantages is the simplicity of the internal regulator type..

      You would have had it fixed by now
