    Replacing rear crankshaft oil seal

    Hi All,

Do you have to drain the oil down to replace this seal? I don't want it all to come gushing out when I pull the old seal out!

Also on putting the new one in, is it best to smear the inner and outer edge of the seal with oil to help slip it in, or does it go in dry?

    Thanks for your help.

hi al might be wrong but dont think you need to drain down unless youve overfilled sump, but definately do not fit seal dry it will stick and grip on insertion and may tear working lips.............wow that all sounds a bit :shock:use a bit of engine oil smeared liberaly all over before you slip it in............

          Hi Steve (2)!
It took me a morning to get the box off about 5 weeks ago, and not been out there since
Could have had it done by now but been either too busy, too cold or to CBA:shock:
