    Handbrake woes!

    Afternoon all

Just had my Stag MOT'd which it passed but the tester made mention that the offside handbrake wasn't actually doing anything. He did mention this last year as well so figured better do something about it. Having just stripped it down it looks like at least one of the ratchets is the wrong way round! anyone confirm please?

The same garage replaced two brake wheel cylinders which both blew en route for it's MOT back in 2018, I'm thinking they put the adjuster on wrongly.

    Thanks

    Jim

Does look wrong. A former member (lovely chap called Julian leyton) did a great post on this. Have you had a search here for “handbrake adjusters”?
Paul - 3 projects, 1 breaker - garage built and housing 2 white Stags. One runs, one doesn't

Yes, I just did which confirms my first thoughts, easy mistake to make I guess if you aren't familiar with the set up.

Yes, definitely the wrong way round. This is how mine are fitted and the adjusters work perfectly provided the handbrake cable is disconnected and the levers on the back plates pushed fully off.
