Regarding Timing Chain Guide - Curved - Upper - 147907

I'm installing my timing chains and need to install the above part. Since it slides up and down to take up slack from the chain, do I install the bolt a spring washer and then a flat waster? Rimmers parts catalog as well as my catalog does not show a spring washer. If I don;'t use a spring washer do I use lock-tite to stop the bolt from unscrewing or do I just torque it up as specified?

Here a photo of the guide in the parts catalog. It doesn't show a spring washer.

I have always used a spring washer as well as a flat washer, but I must admit to never having looked at the parts book.

Nothing has ever fallen off so I will probably continue doing the same. Sometimes I have found just a flat washer will bend under load on a slotted hole and as a result come loose, but I must admit this is on heavy duty farm machinery.

Mine had a flat washer under a spring washer, seems logical for that adjustable guide, as you are tightening the bolt over a slot, not a circular hole.
Header tanks - you can't beat a bit of bling.

Thanks. My gut feel was to use a spring washer.

With regard to the idler shaft / jack shaft, I recall someone mentioned that the scribe line to needs to be slightly down to the left bank else you may run into problems lining up the distributor. This is more important for the TR7, but why is it necessary to have the dowel facing right as mentioned above? The ROM only mentions the scribe line and not the dowel. I cant make out form the illustration, but my dowel pin is on the same side as the chain. Is this critical and if so, why?

BTW. I was looking Rimmer Bros site for the TR7' timing chain, the spring washer is clearly visible.
