I have just refitted my engine after rebuild and am refitting the SS exhaust. The manifold to downpipe joint seems to have had a previous leakage and when I line up the pipework the angle of the joint seems slightly wrong, presumably the straining from the exhaust system pipework forced the manifold to downpipe joint apart.
As the centre sections are attached to the bodywork at the rear of the overdrive and the rear axle, and under the floor there is no danger of movement so I am contemplating fitting a flexi joint into each of the downpipes to allow more movement in fitting and possibly remove noise transmission from the engine to the body shell.
So my question is, has any one else done this, and are there any associated problems?
