    Driving abroad.

Have done a search but cant find the thread.

It has been brought to my attention that if Hi-Vis jackets are required, why are they not supplied in hire cars in Spain?

Recently back from Lanzarote and no jackets. Didn't occur to me until after I returned home so didn't ask at the office.

    Warning triangles:
Spanish road traffic laws require automobiles to have two portable reflective warning triangles. When the vehicle breaks down, the triangles should be placed as follows:
    • On the Autovia or Autopista, no less than 50 meters to the rear of the vehicle.
    • On a highway with two-way traffic, 50 meters to the front and rear of the vehicle.

Only 1 triangle in the cars I have hired John. No spare bulbs, no first aid kit and no Hi Vis jackets.

Not sure that a fire extinguisher is a requirement.

Spare bulbs? In some modern cars you have to tear down half the car to change a bulb.

                    From the RAC

While driving in Spain, you are required by law to carry the following items. Hefty on-the-spot fines can be issued for failing to have them:
                    • Reflective jackets (although not mandatory to carry, you could be fined for walking on the road or hard shoulder if not wearing one)
                    • Warning triangle (compulsory in every vehicle with four wheels or more) (Residents must carry 2)
                    • Headlamp beam deflectors (Depending on your car, you will either need deflector stickers or have to adjust the beam manually)
                    • Motorcyclists: Crash helmets are compulsory for riders of mopeds, motorcycles, trikes and quads, unless these are equipped with seat belts. Motorcycles on the road must have their lights on at all times
                    • GB Sticker or Euro plates

Lights (it is no longer compulsory for vehicles to carry a set of spare bulbs and the tools to fit them)
