    Fuel line replacement

I am in process of fitting my replacement fuel lines from the tank to the carbs. I bought a replacement kit from LD parts and it came with clips similar to the ones shown below supplied by Westfield fasteners

The original pipes were fitted with spring clips as sold by LD parts. See below

With this being the fuel system I do not want to take any chances of a possible leak. Does anyone have any advice or experience with this. Mikalor, which would be my preference, do not make a clamp small enough.

The fuel supply is only a low pressure system (unlike modern high pressure lines for fuel injection) so you don’t need anything exerting huge amounts of force on (presumably) a plastic pipe from front to rear (assuming the replacement is the same as the original).

      Hi JOHNS,

When I rebuilt my engine around 2011/12 I used the same sprung ones from Peter at LDParts and they worked without any issues.

A few months ago I replaced the perishable fuel lines and replaced the sprung clips with those screw down types and not had any issues so far.

The main reason I switched was just down to the fiddle when I needed to perform any adjustments to fuel lines (like when needing to remove carbs for the regular headaches we all know and love). If found the sprung ones just a little bit of a pain to handle.

      Best,
      Tariq

I think I would go with the screw type clamps, who knows if your replacement pipe is the same OD as the pipe that those spring clips were made for?

In the places where I will not be needing to remove the pipe I have been using appropriate sized Oetiker clamps, very secure and tidy.

ford have used the spring clips for years, I would go with those, but as previous comments, these as well as the screw clips need to be the correct size for the pipe. if replacing mine I would be using copper pipe not plastic but that's personal choice.
