ZF 4 Speed Shifter Cable linkage Options

I'm converting my manual RV8 to the 4 speed Auto ZF4 and space is really tight in the tunnel. Has anyone managed to find a nice looking gear selector with a cable linkage that can be made to fit and look good?
I'v spent a couple of days so far trying to make a solution that works with the standard shifter, but the gearbox sits quite high in the tunnel and there isn't enough clearance available to use the standard Stag mechanism without moving it toward the side of the tunnel which makes the rod linkage solution even more difficult.

perhaps look at using the tele control cables used on boats, they will push and pull so you should get away with one cable, we used them on the first transit super van way back

The original shift change will work fine with the ZF, but you have to modify it as the lever is on the other side of the 'box. Glenn (Seaking) has used the BMW cable shifter on his, but that alters the appearance inside the car.

Thanks for all your suggestions, I'm not to worried about altering the look inside the car as long as it's in keeping with the style of the Stag.My centre console was already different when I had the manual lever in place, it used the trip computer and cruise control from the SD1 donor car in place of the heater controls/ashtray . The photo Maynard posted looks really nice and in keeping, is that from a Jaguar and was it cable operated?
I think mine is a tighter fit than the usual install because I had the use the deeper full size bell housing from a 4.6 Range Rover so the box is set back further than usual.

Hi are you the same guy (Dorian) that had a blue stag and think David Carter and Matrin Thadeos worked on it

Yes it is cable operated and although the lever is Jaguar XJ 40. It is not straightforward. There is a lot of fabrication involved.

Did you buy a kit for the cruise , or adapt from another car

It is an AP 900 electronic cruise control kit with a prop shaft speed sensor.

Yes my car was originally white, David Carter and Martin did the bodywork in blue back around 1996, a long time ago!! How did you know that?
Jonathan Finnis also was involved with the spraying (Monarch)

With regards to the Jaguar selector it seems none of the options I have found are particularly easy, it's a shame because I think it really suits the car, I wish my interior looked lime yours! I don't have an issue with electronics but my fabrication skills are limited to a bit on mig welding!

I was talking to Martin a while back, and he said they made a custom front spoiler on Dorians car, so put 2 + 2 together, you were one of the first few people to have EFI fitted as well, any chance you could post a picture off the front of your car

                            thanks Dave
