With the quality of rubber these days, what's the live expectancy of the seals in a rebuilt master cylinder for a car that gets driven about 1000 miles a year?
I purchased a kit from eBay item 331996674611 dot5 comparable (golfblogger) no connection

" New high quality Triumph Stag 22.2mm brake master cylinder rebuild kit, manufactured in the UK from EPDM, compatible with DOT 5 silicone brake fluid.
I have had these manufactured by a specialist and are the only kits available that are specifically to be used with DOT 5 silicone brake fluid.
My newly purchased Stag master brake cylinder failed after nine months and nine hundred miles, I contacted the cylinder manufacturer who informed me that new unit components were only compatible with Polyethylene Glycol-based fluid (DOT3, 4 & 5.1).
These kits are an O/E replacement for the Triumph Stag.
(Please note, Silicone brake fluid is not recommended if you intend to use your vehicle for racing), Silicone does however have the advantage of not having to be replaced every three years or removing paint from you classic car. "
The silicon brakes down the normal seals. When I put silicon in mind the front calipers leaked all over the floor I replaced with new calipers no trouble with them but later the master cylinder seals went.
