rubber visor block fitting

Hi Stag folks,

I know this is a very trivial question ,but has anyone found a satisfactory way to fix the sun visor rubber fixing block ,the one that screws into the header rail of the T bar.

Mine has parted company with the T bar and as I don't know what the two chrome pozi/phillips screws screw into its difficult to fix.

I imagine there some sort of captive fixing behind the foam,but if anyone knows how it fixes or knows of a good solution I would be grateful.

The T - Bar is made of metal and covered with foam and then the vinyl ,the rubber sun visor blocks screw through the foam in to the metal T -bar

mine are just self tappers into the metal of the T bar, if you cannot find the holes where the peircings are then perhaps they have sheared off? Maybe you could drill new holes slightly away from the originals so that the originals are still covered by the block. There was a post where the rubber blocks were getting crushed so small pieces of tubing was inserted into the blocks to support the screws.

I forgot to locate my holes when I replaced the T bar cover so don't have a clue where the original holes are! Thats a job for another day..

go along with a needle to locate the holes without leaving any visible damage

that's a great reply,very helpful,so just to clarify the self tappers just screw into the mild steel of the T bar ,ie no other fixing below the foam,

Did you use the original self tapper,or a thicker one?

Hi I used the same size self tappers ,I ment to say the actual holders are not great ,touch mine and the visor pops out ,I got them from a well know triumph dealer !

Think the holes in my T bar must be enlarged as the screw wont bite,prob need a larger self tapper

using original holdersare fine ,its the crew holes are the prob

Thats not what i was asking,Lamberettlad said every time he moved the sun vissor they poped out of the fixing,thats why i asked where they rubber mounts or poly

In your case the metal has stripped a bit rust,your need to go up to the next size screws,or move the rubber mounts over a bit,i would go up the next size screws
