    Sloppy brake pads

Just about to install my brake pads and Just placing them in there without the pins they seem very sloppy.. they look the correct type, box says stag...
I’m used to pads that are held firmly in the callipers but these with their rounded sides seem not to positively engage. I assume that the little ear on the pads go to the top they seem firmer that way.

    Is this normal?

I found another post that also said that they are sloppy, so OK on that.. but I am still confused as to the correct orientation of the pads. in the picture there is a slight ear on one side, circled are those all up? all down or up and down in one caliper??

Terry, my pic shows a new and an old set of EBC pads. When I took the old pads out I marked the new ones in order to avoid a mistake. The little "ears" (your circle) are all up (oben=top, Innen=inside, außen=outside).

I found that no matter which way you tried to fit them, EBC pads need "fettling" to get them to fit anyway.

          Ok

this is what happens when it’s 4 years since you took them apart and didn’t take a note!! I could not find it in the forum but it’s there now

I played around a bit more and they really don’t fit properly with those ears down, They are twisted a bit but you could just about force them to

I’m so used to brake pads being held tightly that these concerned me

          thanks!

I thought they are handed and only go in one way to sit properly. Doesn't that springy thing help keep them tightish?

Yes, if it’s wrong they don’t sit straight and the top pin is almost impossible to get in.. I’m just used to pads that don’t spin like that!
