Sound deadening etc. after bare metal body shell.

Recommendations please for quality sound deadening (like what is stuck on the floors etc from new) as my shell will be all bare metal.

Also heat shielding to go around the gearbox area etc.

    TIA

I used 4mm thick foam with aluminium foil skins mainly for heat but also not bad for sound. I have happy with the heat shielding performance. Noise had to tell with straight through exhausts! http://vi.vipr.ebaydesc.com/ws/eBayI...2&secureDesc=0

Agree with the use of Dynamat or similar foil backed material to reduce heat and noise. Hughesy's looks good for keeping interior temperatures down.
There are also a couple of products (whose names escape me, must be brain turning to mush through watching really awful tv these days!!) which you use only in those areas which may resonate or cause "boom", like footwells or behind seats. Similar to a dense foam applied on top of sticky black self-adhesive. You don't cover entire areas, only using in approx. 1 foot x 1 foot sections.
No doubt a quick check for "sound deadening" or similar on Ye Olde Internet will reveal various products.
I'd still Dynamat the transmission tunnel and footwells....hopefully not causing any carpet fitting problems.
      Best of luck, stay safe,

      Neil.

just be careful if you are using anything on the engine/gearbox side of the tunnel, I purchased some foil faced mats that were sold as suitable for this. on putting a match to the corner as a test, they burnt happily and didn't even self extinguish. I got a full refund and kept them so will use them inside the car when the carpets are replaced.

Thanks for the comments, Dynamat keeps coming up so that would appear to be the way to go.

I used dynomat type (dynomat is expensive!) sticky foil Pads in places where there used to be bitchumen pads then covered the lot with 1/4 inch foam/foil like hughseys.

its important to not to make it too thick as it will affect the carpet fit etc..

I used a product called Dodo, can't say how good it is yet. cost was £200 for both layers (there are so many types available its a mine field

. one is like dynomatt and one is foam stuck to vynyl . the first layer is easy the second a bit more of a challenge
