I have just finished fitting a lower front panel to my stag .Today I went to get the paint from Brown Brothers in Chester .Wanting to stay as original as possible and because it it’s the only practical paint to use in my garage .I asked for 1lt of cellulose, only to be told that it is no longer available . Something to do with EEC and the environment. The point is if you want to stay original and like me you want to do paintwork in the garage what choice do we have . The only other options is 2 pack which cannot be used without specialised equipment. Or 1 pack clear over base which needs perfect conditions . I was lucky enough to get some cellulose from a small factor that had some left on the self but he tells me that from January it will be illegal to sell any cellulose product .I suggest that if you have a paint job to do in the near future get the paint now

Yes, I can relate to this. I have just had my white Stag re-sprayed, and the sprayers spent some considerable time on the net finding some cellulose paint for me. I'm not sure what disadvantages there are with water based paint, but I think I would rather go with cellulose myself.

I believe there is an exemption for the use of cellulose, that it can only be supplied to classic car restorers (or wording something like that) and that it cannot be used to spray a vehicle although you are allowed to respray your fridge in a nice shade of pimento red. So buy your paint to spray your fridge! Most factors in reality though will not be bothered with it. It is still available now and so it does make sense to buy it for those D.I .Y. jobs.
