    Brake caliper removal

    Hello all,
I'm looking to send off my brake calipers for a refurb which is going to be a turn around time of about two weeks.
I was wondering what are peoples preferred method of minimising fluid leakage whilst the calipers are off.
I'd rather not clamp the hoses - they're fairly new.
    Cheers,
    Mark

Tightly packed tissue paper is my prefered method (Twisted as you puch it in the pipes).
It was James Bond's colour... Saffron Yellow is so cool :-)

Is it cost effective ? Paddocks do 2 new calipers and pads for cheap http://www.jamespaddock.co.uk/brake-...stag-216131-2k

Mark. Try this. Take the top off the brake fluid reservoir, and cover it with a piece of polythene, and then screw the lid back on. You should then find that if you open the bleed nipples, nothing comes out.. If it doesn't you can then safely remove the calipers. Tie the hoses back on themselves in a U shape and secure them with cable ties. A bit of paper towel would be enough to catch the occasional drip.

I've noticed the plastic reservoirs on two master cylinders have started to crack or craze. so I'd be careful tightening a plastic bag on the cap. I have used this method before. I used the pipe clamps on another car worked well.

I use blocked off brake pipe fittings just fitted on the ends but short term cling film over master cylinder as described

Thank you all for ideas. I like the idea of blanked-off fittings - any idea of thread/fitting size?
I'm having mine refurbed as opposed to buying new as they're the original Lockheed calipers and not at all pricey compared to brand-new pattern parts.
              Cheers,

I thought I'd update this thread as it might be useful to others.
I bought some 3/8 UNF dome nuts from ebay (about £4.00 for 5, delivered) and put a piece of rubber from an old coolant hose inside the end of the dome as a seal.
With these fitted in place of the calipers there are no leaks and I can happily wait for my calipers to be returned.
                Cheers
