Seat Knob Clip or Heater Knob Clip

As you may be aware, I was after a replacement knob or clip for the seat knob that allows the back to recline. I had ordered the replacement that Rimmers list and had discovered it to be too large and silver. I then discovered that the heater knobs on the slider controls have the same clip and was able to purchase some Triumph 2000/2500 knobs off Fleabay. The knobs arrived and I removed one of the clips which was in amazing condition, my old one had rusted and lost its strength before becoming lost. The heater knob clip slid into the knob and the knob is now back on the seat, 8 weeks after having the seats recovered. I have attached some photos so you can get a clearer picture. The clip is black, 9mm long and 5mm wide. the thickness of the metal is 1/1000 of an inch.

Do you know if it is the same clip that was used? I still think the tooling fund should look into this. Maybe some triumph 2000 folks know where to source this clip?

Yes it is the same clip. It is also used in the Triumph Dolomite & Toledo range. They used the same clip out of the parts bin for a number of things. When I fitted the clip into the knob, it fitted perfectly and clicked behind a recess, moulded inside the knob.

I found a spare heater knob for the Stag. The one used in the Stag's knob looks wider. I'd thought it would be the same.

I think I had nos heater lever bezels, don’t recall there being any clip inside. Seemed to be a tight fit though

You could have used the same clips that hold the front chrome trim on the out side of the car,may have to trim the side a bit
