What's best for cleaning grunge ?

I've got all the interior out of my car at the moment and it could do with a damn good clean.

I'm not talking of dog hair and fag ends, what I need to get off is overspray, old waxoyl, carpet glueand gneral bodyshop detritus - you know what a car can be like after it's been in the bodyshop for a while.

So, apart from lots of elbow grease, any suggestions ?

    Cheers

    Julian

White spirit does it for me; that and a cup brush on the angle grinder

try some panel wipe as it is not as aggresive as thinners for the overspray - it will also shift the wax and grease

        Thanks Darren

I've heard of panel wipe, but never used it. Where can I buy it? (not Halfords I guess?) & what trade names does it go under ?

        Cheers

Any automotive paint supplier will sell it. Panel Wipe is its generic name regardless of brand. Make sure you wear rubber gloves as it dries out your skin.

Another good thing to try is a vinyl cleaner by decosol - it is like a red sludge and comes in a small bottle. it works great on leather and Vinyl trim

I can for the life of me remember the name of it though :X

I replied thinking you meant the interior as in the metal inside of the car not the interior as in the seats etc. Wire brushing may be a bit harsh for them :?

First choice - CocaCola, to get the grunge off - if you drop a coin into it, you'll soon see how effective a cleaner it is. Think what it does to one's insides!

Second - panel wipe to get the CocaCola off!

It's OK, you're right - I did mean the metalwork.

Those seats can live to see another day now
