Hi all , looking for some advice please . Took the Stag out for a good run today and it was driving well . Stopped for fuel and had trouble starting it . It seemed like there wasnt enough battery power to turn the starter motor . It started easily from cold . Could it be a bad connection or a faulty starter motor ? the battery is charging ok Thanks Trevor

Could be the battery is nearing end of life, poor connections between the battery and starter motor, worn contacts in the starter solenoid or the starter motor itself. Or it may be, if you've not run the car for a few months, without connecting a separate charger, that your battery is just at a low state of charge.
The easiest, and cheapest first step would be to check connections on the +ve and earth leads between the battery and starter/ solenoid. You could see if a local garage or Halfords are open and available to apply their battery test gear.

If it’s been starting OK and then struggled to turnover when warm, I would suggest as others have done, check the battery, and that it’s terminals and connections are clean and tight. Also check the engine earth strap, it’s a common poor earth point. If that identifies nothing, then work your way through to the starter motor connections, could even be a wire that’s failing/bending more as the engine bay gets warm - had a similar issue with a coil LT wire, took some finding!

Hello Trevor,
Check out this fairly recent thread; it may offer another route to check.
Not had the Stag long, She is all original and unmolested, I have only done a couple of hundred miles since purchase, so just getting used to it.It has had lots of money spent on it over the years by previous owners. I am not sure if I have an issue or not, is there a potential problem in the waiting ???. When I start the car
