Forgotten maintenance for automatics

To change the alternator, I had to drop the trans cooler and sway bar. Fun. Anyway, the cooler had about 1/3 of the fins folder over. Obvious, but what was not was the amount of impacted grease and oil. I am sure it was less that 50% effective a that. So, a bit of spray degreaser and gentle hose might be in order for anyone with automatics.

Much easier to change it from above. Just follow the guidance for moving the power steering pump as described in the manual for changing the battery and the alternator can be lifted out. Changed mine that way a couple of times (BW35 automatic).
