I just finished using a Frost Restorations POR15 kit to seal a micro-weep on the fuel tank of my vintage Austin, when I traced the persistent fuel smell in the boot of the Stag to a similar micro-weep in the base of its tank as well.
As this tank had been repaired in four places already and there was evidence of dodgy metal in three more areas, I decided that a new tank was in order.
I still have the metal-prep solution and 3/4 of the POR15 resin mix left from the Austin treatment, although not the heavy duty cleaning solution.
What does anyone with experience think about my using the metal-prep and the resin on a brand new tank, bearing in mind they've been used once already?
Can I do it without the cleaning solution, as the tank is new?
Thanks,
Chris
