    B post trim vinyl

I'm going to change the vinyl on the B post. ROM says remove T bar bolt. Any problems I should be aware of?
I'm hoping for a quick job without having to order bits . Postage is currently taking over a month for bits to arrive from UK or USA, understandably.

I'm slowly changing the trim colour from Saddle Tan to Beige to fit with the new Signal Red paint. I'm using a vinyl set from Aldridge.

on my first Stag i fitted Beige interior, one thing to bear in mind ,thats the one colour trim that seams to fade the most , when i bought seat covers they didnt match the rest of the interior , if you have to get new trim parts try to buy them in pairs so they match

To fit the B-post trim your need to loosen the T-bar bolt but not to take it out

Be very careful when loosening the T bar bolt that it doesn't ping out if loosened too much, it is under a lot of tension. If the bolt does come out, the the hole in the T bar will be out of alignment by about a quarter inch, requiring a jack under front cross member to flex the body to get holes to realign, I also needed a ratchet strap around the B post and my body along with the jack so when I leant backwards it pulled the B post outwards to align holes in the other direction. Not impossible but difficult.

      Cheers

Many thanks for the advice! I hope I don't need to do any strong arm antics like that, I'm too puny! 😉

I did mine a few months ago, not an easy task.. , plenty of clamps and "stage" the glue, i.e. glue one part and let it set before moving on to the next area and stretching it to fit.

Did mine recently and as trunk says glue in stages. Thought it a good idea to use thicker foam......looks good but now seatbelts won’t retract as bracket in too deep!

Not a quick job then. I think I'll wait until driving season is over. Thanks so much for the tips, very helpful.

I did mine with thin foam and the seatbelts are ok, but the vinyl (Ambla?) itself is quite meaty and I found that the chrome rubbing strips don't sit up tight to the recovered 'B' Post. No problem, thought I, but now I've found that the hardtop fouls on thos strips. Will have to take the 'B' Post covers out some time and try to scrape a bit of that woven backing off the Ambla in that area.
