    Clamp on mirror fitting

Does anyone have a photo they can share of how they fitted a clamp on mirror, preferably to the passenger side?
I do not seem to be able to fit so that it is secure and usable, and also does not foul either the quarter light or side window.

I have tried these before but they have proven to be unsuitable

I fitted one of the chrome clamp style mirrors many decades ago as a temporary measure - and on the passenger side if I recall - as an overtaking mirror whilst driving on the continent. It was only small about 4" x 2" but don't recall whether I attached to the windscreen rain gully or the upright of the quarter-light / door window channel. It was very limited view but enough for a quick check before overtaking. Think I also used some thin rubber strips under the clamp to protect the chrome/paint and for some added grip - something like scraps of a bicycle inner tube.

        Morning all,

Someone asked the same question a few weeks ago.
I dropped a post regarding one I bought at the NEC November 2018. (Stainless steel, about 4 x 3 inches.) Excellent quality
I incorrectly stated it fixed to the quarterlight frame, in fact it is fixed to the quarterlight GLASS, by 2 Allen grub screws.
The rubber designed to go between the clamp screws and the glass was too thick, so I used several layers of pvc tape trimmed to fit and not be noticeable.(Trimmed inner tube is an excellent idea.)
You MUSN'T overtighten the securing screws - I met someone at a show who had fitted a pair, and had managed to crack the quarter light glass on his newly restored MGA coupe.
Mine is on the driver's side, and is a real boon, letting me see right along the side of and behind the car, just where motor cyclists tend to sit.
I think Holden and Tex both sell similar mirrors.

        Stay safe,

        Neil.

I bought it from one of the Stag specialists, so assumed it was a proven solution. Mistake!
I tried the screen rain gully - but the mirror is completely hidden behind the pillar. The front window frame (behind the quarter light) is the best position for visibility (and matches the drivers side), but the window will not close with it in place. The closest I got was fixing to the quarter light glass (as Neil, above) using a small strip of self-amalgamating tape and thin metal strip (the rubber strips supplied with mine were also too large), but the added thickness of the mirror clamp meant the quarter light would not close properly, leaving an open gap. Also, the fitting did not feel secure in any of the positions.

I don't want to drill a hole, so will stay with the one door mirror. Well, more like half a mirror, because the drivers side one has the remote interior adjustor that is normally continuously adjusted out of position with my left leg while driving...

I fitted this overtaking mirror on the drivers side. It was an absolute faff. The angles were all wrong in the bracket. I ended up dismantling the bracket, straightening the stainless steel in my vice and then red bending to suite the Stag window frame.
