Insurance policy renewal scam.

Just investigated annual insurance for 3 non stag policies suspecting the premium increase was a rip off. Approached a local broker. Quote was a whopping £500 lower. Underwriter was the same as current, who couldn’t lower the premium.
Disgusting bunch of scammers!
why can’t they treat customers with less contempt? Oh and the broker had real actual people to answer the phone too!!!!

Word is you should compare alternative quotes at least 30 days BEFORE renewal date (if I'm interpreting this as expiry date of existing policy). Apparently, according to Martin Lewis the Money Saving Expert, the competitor renewal premiums will increase the closer you get to the actual expiry/renewal date. I unintentionally put this to the test on a non-Stag policy recently as things got forgotten over a week or two leading up to renewal. The same online quote parameters were entered into the same website yet resulted in a quote nearly £50 more. Luckily I was able to refer back to an original quote reference in an email when I phoned them to query and they honoured it.

Ok how come a broker could get a £500 lower price from the same insurance underwriters who couldn’t budge on like for like?
