    New Hood

Any body had experience of ebay user 5295miles?
apparently based in Faversham and offering a new blue hood fitted while you wait (a good few hours I would think) for the sum of £800.00

sounds too good to be true.
    any views welcome

I note South East Trimmings (Jim Vangent) is based in Faversham. His normal price for recon frame + new hood is £1060. Perhaps he's doing a super discount if things have been quiet, or mebbe there's VAT to be added? If it is him, his quality was good when he did my hood a couple of years ago.

Mine cost about that as frame did not need reconditioning, just lubrication and a few adjustments which Jim did not charge for. He makes his own hoods, I’m very pleased with it and would recommend him.

Had my hood replaced by Jim at South East Trimming a few weeks ago. Great job, hood only with new seals, £840 if I remember correctly. Really nice guy. Contact details in magazine.

            Morning all,
Good to see from the above that SE Trimmings are operating through the present pandemic.
Jim and assistant Charley re-foamed my seats a few months before "life changed", and they made a lovely job. including a wee repair where the mechanism had worn through the driver's seat outer bolster cover..
(Note his business is actually located in Tyneham, which is just outside Faversham, his letterhead gives his Faversham address.)
Specialists like Jim need our support, especially as we try and get back to normal.
Note I have no connection to SE Trimmings, other than being a satisfied customer.....who dreams of a leather interior..."one day" !!!!
            Stay safe,

            Neil.

Faversham recommends SE Trimmings. Jim is at their premises right now installing my carpets!

Great write-ups for SE Trimmings, but in regard to the OP's question, it still remains IF it's SE Trimmers who are advertising this tempting deal

As we all think it’s SE Trimming and you are interested there is no point in going thru EBay., approach him, ask him to match the price.
if it is him he will have saved the EBay commission, if not you will have possibly been saved a poor fitting hood

Not many Stag hood fitters in the Faversham area as you point out in post #2. You quote £1060 for recon frame and hood. The OP quoted £800 for new hood, which is around the price many of us have paid for a new hood. Standard pricing, nothing special. Obviously a recon frame costs more.

Am sure you're trying to make a point - trouble is, haven't a clue what.

another well known supplier of parts also has a dark blue hood and recon frame with new upside down catches on ebay for
1600 pounds hence my enquiry as 800 pounds seems a lot for a recon frame

Yes £1600 does seem a lot especially as you may not need a recon frame, Jim lubricated and adjusted mine where necessary, upside down catches are new to me.

I assume an eBay item does not include fitting to the car, which i consider essential on an old car. Make SE Trimming an even better deal. I saw mine being done and it's not a job I would like to do the 1st or 4th time.
