Driving along and a strange noice ...............

A squeal ,a tiny clunk and silence ,car running smoothly nothing amiss at all .L looking into the engine the rubber elbow that fits to the bottom of the air intake and on to the pipe into the bottom of the engine ,is missing !!!! .
Has any one got one for sale ?
And what should i do in the meanwhile with the pipe or the gaping hole ?

ps I know noise is spelt incorrectly !!

If it's the fuel overflow pipe from the carbs to an open end down at the front of the engine then this will have no effect on driving but a leaky float valve could start a fire without it.

If it's the vacuum pipe from the inlet manifold to the air filter vacuum switch then you can safely plug the pipe to the manifold as a temporary solution you will just lose the carb hot air intake facility.

in either case best to replace the missing bits asap

If you mean it's the warm air pipe of the exhaust, don't worry about it, not had mine for years.

Cheers so this morning driving at 60 mph ,engine cut out ,just made the half hard shoulder ,as it was a slip road i coasted to ,wants to start ,fuel pump clicks ..............Monday looks like being a busy day !!
