Just received a delivery from Paddocks. The leads they sent through are thinner than my current blue 8mm ones. These are green and 7mm. Has anyone had experience of these before I go ahead and fit. Concerned they may not be as robust as my previous ones from Rimmers.

Green and 7mm are what Triumph used, so if you want the engine bay to look original, which Paddocks assume you would, they are the ones to fit. I have always used them without any problems.

Color has nothing to do with performance obviously, and does not tell you anything about the internal construction.
7 vs 8 mm is not likely to be relevant with plug gaps less than .035 or so. Put on a CDI with .045 gap resister plugs and then the additional insulation is more important.

What matters is the DC resistance per foot, which should be less than 1K and the physical construction in the helical core winding. This is what does the RF suppression. Many low resistance wires are also cheap crap internally and do not suppress RF well. Some high resistance wires are junk as too. Hard to guess unless you know the actual wire manufacture is one of the few reputable ones. Taylor for instance. Bosch wires were good but they discontinued them.

Anyway Mike, why are you replacing your wires? Back in the carbon cord days, they degraded and needed periodic replacement, but modern helical core wires should last for decades and are not a maintenance item. Pretty much, if you open your bonnet at night and do not see blue corona, you don't have a problem.

I have those Paddocks leads, they work fine, and have done for some years.
