    Radiator on ebay

just seen this rad on ebay and the seller claims it is better than the inferior Supergill rad
Has anyone bought one of these?
I dont need a rad at the moment but I'm curious

Certainly looks very smart, but selling your product by dissing the competitors doesn't come across as being very "professional" at best and maybe unlawful at the worst.

An independent comparison could be interesting - I'll offer my services free of charge if someone buys the radiator for me!
    The answer isn't 42, it's 1/137

Agree with Drew, putting the competition down in order to sell your own product is not a good look and not something I approve of which is a shame because other than that it looks a good product. Not sure on the relative merits of silver soldering vs normal "soft" soldering. His feedback looks OK, but how much of that is for the Stag radiator I don't know. Send one to Drew and take him up on his kind offer to test one for you

I had one made for my lump (3.9 RV8) which fitted the entire slightly extended space, brass top & bottom tank, copper core, with header inlet in the bottom tank, for £320.00. It is a bit larger than the stock radiator it replaced and keeps the lump nice and cool.
If you don't like the standard fare, get one made.

I have just fitted a Supergill rad from Tony Hart on my K reg stag, but I haven't got round to driving it yet. I am a bit pushed for space width ways due to the oil cooler being fitted at one side so there was no chance of fitting a Rimmers 4 row as fitted to my P reg Stag
I do know what he means by the thicker core though, it was a PITA to fit as my 2 speed Kenlowe was touching the core of the previous one. I resorted to filing out the front panel holes and grinding lots of lumps off the Kenlowe mounts.

The old rad cooled fine, it was just increasingly incontinent as the seam down one of the end tanks was cracking, and the tubes were being eaten away by fire extinguisher powder after my little under bonnet bonfire a few years ago!

Looks good but won't 25 fins per inch mean finer gaps on the radiator, ok better cooling when clean but surely easier to block with the typical dead insect debris as time goes on?

However my current rad keeps the engine at temperature without fan assist unless very slow traffic so unsure of the benefit of even more cooling for me.

Really nice that good alternatives are out there.

              Evening all,
I've got nothing against someone promoting their product as being "better than the others", but this person's advert is hardly self-depreciating, is it? !
You don't see Ford saying Vauxhall aren't very good, do you....
And why does he keep banging on about Supergill rads? Personal axe to grind ?
And whilst I don't have a Tony Hart Supergill rad, fitted, surely the number of those sold tells you something about the quality of the product ??
His product looks good, and may well be so, perhaps a slightly better choice of words in the description could have been used ?
              Stay safe,

              Neil.

the way I see it, if your cooling system was not up to the mustard you fitted a proper HRS supergill. if that doesn't cool it down then you have bigger problems.

My supergill runs too cool at normal UK temps

I have an ally rad works very well, to the point that I have even thought about fitting a roller rad blind for cold weather use as it over cools the enging in cold weather use so only reaches warm rather than hot heater use, will try an 88 deg stat before I go that far though, it was fitted as we hoped to do the south of France this year, may be next year

I have fitted an EJWard alloy radiator and its good but, there is not much wrong really with an original radiator is there, been ok for about 40 years!

Never fitted anything else in 30 years and over 100,000 miles. I had one radiator recored by Serck in 1990 and repaired by them again about 10 years later. My current Stag has a radiator that I had recored locally in 2008. This one was tested by them again in 2014 when I had some modifications done to replumb my header tank. If I need any further work doing, I'll go back to the same place again. Don't see the need to spend mega bucks on bling alloy radiators, Supergill or an unknown item from eBay.

Well said. I had my standard radiator re-cored in Avonmouth and it's been fine for the past 50,000 miles.
