Mine was like that but as other reply take off column cover and you can see the mechanism.

I have a buzzer on mine,
I intend fitting led indicators with kit from Bettercarlighting which includes different relays and a buzzer.

Nothing worse than being flashed at!

OK been fiddling with the Stag today and removed the column shroud,all looks fine with the indicator stalk return mechanism
the indicator returned at least 100 times in each direction with no problems
maybe its catching on the column shroud somehow
will monitor the situation lol

If a turn is relatively shallow, the cancel mech frequently doesn't get chance to engage. There are buzzers that only come on after a preset number of flashes which can be useful.

May also benefit from one of the steel rings that take out end float in the column
