Pretty sure that is the "normal" flasher unit as DJT said. Easy to check, disconnect one of the wires and see if your indicators still work!
The other one could have been to do with the hazard flashers. They are usually separate units.

Ok this is definitely the indicator flasher relay. Have tested.
so behind the dash is this, what could this be then??

My car has the flasher unit under the dash and the hazard flasher is on the relay panel. "74 Mk2 LHD.
Looking in the ROM for '73 it shows the flasher at the top left and the hazard flasher bottom right for RHD

AS Malc says, the early RHD Stags had the flasher unit top left of the relay board. UK Stags didn't have hazard flashers fitted until the first of the Mk2 Stags (Mk1.5) late in 72, and the indicator flasher unit was, for some strange reason, moved to above the steering column. As your car is a 1971 build it won't have had hazards fitted. Maybe someone has retro-fitted hazards using the relay shown in post 7, but removed the switch for some reason, and left the relay. Just guessing........ I think you are going to have to do some 'track and trace' on the wires to identify its purpose.Dave
