    A Little Dribble

No it not an age related medical problem,
having tackled a 2 handed job over the weekend with the help of Mike (@ mine, not @ the nook) my second hand but only just blue soft top went on.

so to the point I have refurbished a fuel filler cap so decided to fit this today, well the 3 little clamps , well 2 of them are ok the lower is a bit of a fiddle.
I have always had slight smell of fuel on filling up, but most cars of a certain age have a similar problem.
it appeared my problem could have been that the fuel filler overflow pipe in the bottom of the filler well had fallen away from the stub on the casting.
the casting has a taper to allow for manufacturing but this has the effect of allowing the pipe to ease off.

so I think a little dribble of fuel on filling could have been the cause.
worth a quick check as it a very poor design if you get a fuel smell on filling.
