    Faulty interior light

    Afternoon chaps.
I have a conundrum for any electrical boffins out there. On the passenger side door when you open it a red light in the door comes on but not so with the vanity light on the centre console and the interior light on the 'T' bar yet the driver side is ok. I've checked the bulb and that's fine. Using a test lamp there is power coming to the bulb but when you check the other side of the light the bulb comes on. So far I've blown two 35 amp fuses. So i'm scratching my head. Any ideas fellas,
    Mike

    Check this post out,

    https://www.socforum.com/forum/forum...trics-question

sounds like you have the ground switched type and the circuit is in that post, my guess is the interior light switch is faulty or more likely a wire has come off of it.

do the lights come on when you use the switch?

yes= the feed from the door switch to the switch is bad
no= the feed from the switch to the lamps is bad

either could be a bad switch

So there’s probably a bad connection from the switch to those 2 lights, the puddle light coming on says that the door switch is ok,

pull the switch, make sure all the wires are ok, look especially at pin (correction.. pin4) the purple/white wire..

if you ground that wire the lights should come on (I’m still assuming you are on a mk2 not a mk1)

I corrected my other post.. I had just been looking at the mk1 and got the wrong pin.. it’s correct now.

Yes the tech section has a good description..

Hi Terry, So yesterday after looking at an old post you sent the link to regarding this same issue i took out the interior light switch out and gave the connections a bit of a tugging and the then removed the A post courtesy light switch i gave it a clean with some emery paper, hey presto the interior light came on. Then gave the A post a scrape where the screw goes in.Then the puddle light got a rogering and guess what ? the puddle light came on. Oh the joys of old engineering and crappy connections. Job done and many thanks Terry for your help,
                Regards Mike
